In the Brooder
I used to be on here and quite active gosh probably like 10 years ago? Maybe it wasn't that long but it was something like that!
I have been lurking ever since then chomping a the bit waiting for the day I had my own very first farm! My husband and I moved to Rocky Mount NC back in January I believe
. I went head first into getting of COURSE chickens first! For now just starting out with tractor supply biddies. 3 black copper marans, several cochin bantams (blue splash, black splash, buff), and some bantams I'm not sure of the breed on.
I also have 7/8th Kune Kune pigs, two gilts and a young boar. Coturnix quails, ancona ducklings, a khaki campbell, and what I believe to be two blue or black swedish ducklings.
Then theres my boer spanish cross doeling, and my pure nigerian buckling (no worries they are separated but always can see each other)...I do plan to get at least 2 more goats eventually.
3 dogs,1 old cat, 2 parrots, several parakeets, aaaaannd reptiles to be thorough lol!
Live on just about 4 acres of flat land....2 nice pecan trees on the property with plans to plant some white mulberry trees in the future....and gardening as well. I have plenty other critter plans but one focus at a time for me
....these boogers take up a lot of my time! I am a stay at home wife however no kids only the furry/feathery/scaly ones. I mainly do all the work with the critters as they are my passion my hubby however helps with the heavy duty stuff I cannot physically do myself (like ripping up an old wood tobacco barn floor to make a pig stall....I helped of course lol).
my goal on here is to make friends, find some great small breeders ( i prefer to buy from small homesteaders over commercial hatcheries etc) and just share my experiences!!!
Thanks!
Niki
