Brand new here, though I have been lurking a while.

I'm without a flock, as (with 90% certainty) by the end of the year I will be moving to join my Fiancee in South Australia. Big plans that we'll be tackling; like re-purposing an old play structure into a coop and run. Have a family member up here in Manitoba that is already raising chickens (He might even be on here, ha ha!) so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before the big move.

Welcome - first go to "where am I, where are," to locate and post on the Australian thread.

It's called "Australia, six states and one funny little island." This way you can warn the locals that you are coming and they can prepare you from top to bottom. Their seasons are reversed from ours, and I'm sure they can recommend breeds that do best in the area.

Also stop in at the Learning Center for basic education- then branch out to forums that interest you.

Start practicing your "G'days," and call them "mates."

I'm still knee deep in paperwork and probably will be for a while, but it all feels so close.
