Hello All!
I'm new to BYC and to chicken keeping. I have 13 chickens and 3 ducks, all nine weeks old this very day. I don't know their gender or breed, and it's a good thing they're new to life otherwise they'd probably tell me I'm doing A LOT of stuff wrong. But I've managed to keep them alive this far!
My plan is just to enjoy the little darlings. Eggs are an expected plus, and since I expect I'll have more roosters than I can keep for a happy flock, I anticipate having to cull a few. I am not gonna lie, that will be hard, but I definitely believe that if you are going to eat meat, you should be willing to do the killing (at least once!)
So as to not get too attached I've only named the ducks (Bubbles, Perry, and Toupe'e), and a few of the chickens (Lady, Peeta, Foghorn, and Polka).
