Thought I would say hi and answer the 'getting to know you' questions.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

---No, I'm not new to chickens, I've had chickens off and on for most of my life in several different states and climates.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

---Upwards of 175 birds from all ages and sizes. (I have 7 acres, so I'm sure I can find room for a few hundred more! haha)

(3) What breeds do you have?

---I have Orpingtons, Wyandottes, Cochins, Bielefelders, Whiting True Blues, Langshans, Houdans, and my favorite little guys... Silkies.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

---Watching them live their little chicken lives. ie: Peck around, communicate with each other, eat, sleep, take dust baths, and anytime I put some kind of new-food in their areas their excitement is fun to watch.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

---I make rustic horseshoe crafts, woodworking projects, and garden. My chickens are by far my favorite hobby.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

---So far, my little family is just me and my chickens. I haul cattle commercially with a semi truck & big pot trailer throughout the Midwest (Mostly Kansas and Nebraska).

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

---Google searches have made it possible to find this group, but reading some of the suggestions and questions, I figured maybe I ought to join and become a viable member, rather than just borrowing awesome info.
