Jarvis and Dreams
In the Brooder
Hello everyone, glad to join the Backyard Chickens community. I live in Tennessee on a small farm where I raise chickens along with other farm animals. Taking care of chickens has always been something I enjoy, and like many people here I’m always looking for ways to make feeding and handling them a little easier.
One thing I noticed over time is that chickens respond very quickly to sound when it comes to feeding time. Because of that, I created something called the Rattle Bucket. It’s a feeding bucket that has a rattle chamber on the bottom that makes a rattling sound when you shake it. Chickens quickly learn to recognize the sound and will often come running from the coop or yard when they hear it.
You can pour feed into the coop and then stand back and shake the bucket, and the sound helps call them over. It’s been a really simple way to get their attention and make feeding time easier.
Looking forward to learning from everyone here and sharing ideas about raising chickens.
