I am brand new at having chickens. I got my flock on Valentines days. I know so romantic right. My husband was not thrilled, really you want to spend your day building a coop and getting chickens? But believe me I was so excited! So it’s been about 2 weeks. We have 8 hens, 4 are 2 years old they are red sexlink, 2 are 11 months old one is an americuana and the other is black and white and 2 I’m unsure of.

I’m a hair stylist, and I like to make things and paint. I have 6 children and 2 dogs. We live in a suburban neighborhood.

Welcome to the zoo, the place to learn & have fun, all at the same time. You'll find lots of good, well informed folks on lots of threads, not all of them chicken related. Don't be shy; just jump on in anywhere. Most of all, enjoy your time spent here.

Greetings and welcome to BYC Stephanie! So glad you joined us. What a GREAT Valentines gift! :ya Won't be gone in a week like flowers or candy. And, this gift will give back almost daily (eggs)! :clap There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
