(1) I just made an order for female chicks a few mins ago after hours of debate of the best breed for families and eggs.

(2) I ordered 20 female chicks, no roosters yet maybe in the future

(3) We ordered Australorps from what I read they are good layers and mostly friendly...I am hoping so.

(4) I am hoping for a good learning/growing experience for my kids and good fresh eggs.

(5) I like to read, make crafts with yarn or fabrics.

(6) My husband and I have 5 kids, we have a large dog, I am a stay at home mom.

(7) Bonus: My great aunt told me about your website when I asked her about her chickens and advice on what we would need.

I look forward to learning and reading as much as I can over the next few weeks while we wait for our chickens to arrive. Thank you in advance for all the advice and knowledge I am sure I will learn here.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Just FYI, just because you ordered 20 sexed chicks as pullets does not necessarily mean you will get all pullets. There are inevitable sexing errors. You may indeed end up with a cockerel or two. Hopefully not but you need to be prepared for the possibility.

:frow hi and welcome! Let us know when your chickies arrive and we'll be excited right along with you! Oh, and this year I got some Black Australorps for the first time too - mostly what we have is Easter Eggers and a few Brown Leghorns - and so far I really like them! They're not laying yet and I can't wait for their pretty brown eggs - hoping they start laying in June.
