Hello! I am new from Blue Springs Missouri

here's hoping you can get the ordinance changed.

First you need to find out who has the power to make a change, and what they require to take you seriously. Likely you will need to get enough of your town to sign a petition.

Second, study on the misconceptions of chickens and phrase your proposal to win favor…
Like - chickens are not smelly, only uncleaned coops are
Like - small flocks are just pets and are quieter than dogs.

I don't know the link, maybe someone else can post it, that lists all the arguments to use.

Good luck.

I am for SURE going to look into it.. we have a very small farmers market, and we have a city "garden" so I guess it's the misconceptions about chickens that is stalling it from happening. . I will do some research and be back. This is an issue I am not willing to drop.

I spoke to the Blue Springs City Codes and Permits people. She was very happy to help me get started on the path to getting chickens (laying hens) approved. First step is we the citizens if Blue Springs need to approach our Council Members and get them on board, we need to start attending council meetings. . Once we have the Council Members on board. This process doesnt happen over night.. I am going to look into the surrounding towns who already allow chickens and see what it took these towns to get it approved..
