I am from Kansas and just getting back into raising some birds. I am currently in school as a nontraditional student with my husband who we both decided at 37 to get our teaching degrees. I have been a nurse for 14 years and now teach health science classes so I needed the teaching degree also. I just ordered some silkies because I need a little something to focus on this semester other than school. Being in my chicken house gives me peace and a clear mind, I absolutely love sitting in my chicken house at night. I have a nice house that was here when we moved here. They had built it out of concrete cinder blocks and it had a dirt floor, I laid bricks in the entire floor two years ago and currently am finishing the front of it where they built a small room which I use as a treatment/feed room and where I test my birds. The entire building is probably 12' x 24' or so. I am getting ready to install new automatic watering which I am pretty proud to have and I cannot wait to start showing and meeting others.
