Hello! I would like to introduce myself...

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

Temp is what causes frostbite, and humidity is the catalyst. We've dealt with it having no open water in the coop (nipple bucket) horse bedding pellets on the floor (keep coop dry) stall refresher on top of the nests where they perch, and a radiant heater that keeps the coop above freezing.

If you're still having issues with chickens with frostbite, this is a great article. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...to-know-about-injury-care-and-recovery.78168/

Welcome, gorgeous rooster, great introduction!

Hello everyone,
I am a new member here coming from the midwest🙂
I've been browsing on Backyard Chickens ever since I owned chickens for 4 years, but I finally signed myself up!
I have a small flock of 13 chickens made up of Sapphire gems, white Plymouth rocks, 1 black Australorp, 1 black sexlink, 1 easter egger, 1 olive egger, 1 light brahma, and 4 mixes (p.s. they are all named.) One of my roosters is the sweetest little man ever (not really little) and loves to be held 🥰
This is him:

I joined because I love chickens and I want to help other people with their chickens☺️
In the past I have had so many problems with frostbite in my chickens, that now I feel I have a lot of experience with it and would like to help anyone who is having problems with it.

Welcome. You wrote an awesome introduction. Your rooster is very handsome. I love roosters BTW. A frostbite expert here will be very helpful.

Welcome to BYC. Have you been able to address the root cause of the frostbite problem?
No.....I have been able to treat severe frostbite though. Last Winter, one of my roosters wattles swelled up like huge balloons, and it was so scary but thankfully he got through it.
