My name is Michelle, I live in South GA. I work at a charter school and we raise chickens there. I grew up in South Florida and never imagined that I would one-day love chickens. 
After being around them at school for 4 years, I decided it was about time to get some of my own. My intention was to get babies and raise them, but folks had other plans. I ended up with 6 "rescues" and we did get two baby frizzles.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, about a month ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 8
(3) What breeds do you have? RIR, Laced Wyandotte, frizzle bantams and I'm not sure of the other two.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Everything. I never knew how much I would love them. I love how they come running when I walk up, I love the fresh eggs, I just love it all.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I am a photographer, I love art, kids and being on the water. Give me a boat and I'm gone.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I have 3 children, 26, 18 and 11, We were foster parents for 9 years and were blessed to be able to adopt our youngest daughter. Life changing. We also have a 16-year-old Chihuahua named Gidget and a one-year-old Miniature schnauzer named Sweet Millie Faye.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been on the fb page and would follow links here to do research and finally decided to join in. Thanks for having me.
