Once you have decided how many chickens you want, you will have to begin building an appropriate sized coop.
You can find all the info you need on this site. Whether you want eggs, meat, or both, the people here can advise you on choices of chicken breeds. :love
 
Hello, and welcome! Glad that you joined. I also live here in hot AZ. I have the Naked Neck's (also called Turken's), because they do better in the heat here than the big fluffy one's do. The one's that I have are good dual-purpose that lay egg's well, but can also be dinner if you get more rooster's than you need. The hen's will go broody, but I prefer to hatch mine out in an incubator and put them in a brooder so I can keep a better eye on the chick's.

We also have a thread going here in the forum's for the AZ. member's. You are welcome to pop in there and chat with us to get more info and advice for our area. We even have a couple of member's who moved out of state that still come back and chat with us!
