Hello everyone! I am new here and I am looking forward to interacting with other members and learning info about chickens!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am brand new to chickens. I just purchased four chicks yesterday.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Four
(3) What breeds do you have?
1 - Orpington
1 - Barred Rock
2 - Black Austrolorp
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was searching for how to sex chicks and came across several forums from this website.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Cake decorating
Crafting - vinyl, wreaths, etc.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have an adult daughter that has a family of her own so it is just my husband and me. We have a cockapoo that is very interested in these new chicks! I am a teacher. This is the second year that 4-H has brought in eggs and an incubator for my class to observe the hatching process. I fell in love with chickens and I am finally living in a neighborhood that allows us to have 4 hens. I purchased two pullets and the other two were straight run. I read several things about how to tell the sex of a chick, but I am not so sure that I did a good job of picking out hens. We will see!
