:frow Welcome from New Orleans. If you have not built a chicken coop/run already there are some great articles here. Just remember to build way, way bigger than you think, in your wildest dreams, you could possibly need.
I recently had a hen who collected eggs in a hidden nest and hatched 15 out of 16 eggs.
So when you hear about chicken math, this is how it works in real life.
I had 10 chickens 8 full size hens, 1 bantam hen and 1 bantam rooster. Chicken math addition is 1 hen+1rooster= 25 chickens. :eek:

In early 2020 we packed what we could fit into a 20ft. U-Haul and moved our family from Wisconsin to South Carolina. We always had a dream to have a little homestead and we simply couldn't afford to do that in Wisconsin. It was a rough move as we left just weeks after COVID started. Long story short, we found some land and had a manufactured home delivered and setup. We've been here nine months and we're finally able to start the flock I always wanted.

I didn't have specifics planned out. I just knew I wanted laying chickens. We went to see the chicks at our local TSC and jumped right in with 4 chicks. That was Thursday last week. Today my daughter brought home 4 more so it's looking pretty serious now.

I look forward to meeting people and learning the way of the backyard chickens.

Wow, that’s a big move and adjustment to make during a pandemic. We bought our place just before things hit and that was hard enough relocating across town without the normal community support. I can only imagine a cross country move would be pretty isolating. Congrats on your new chickens. My flock has either helped keep me sane through all the changes or is a good expression of my insanity… I’m not sure which 😂😂😂
