I am looking for some breeds that aren't very flighty. I live in Washington, so it is rainy most of the year. I was thinking a flock of mixed breeds, and I would like the Amaurcana breed. If any of you know some good sister birds for an Amauricana, please let me know.
I love Black Australorps! They are very very sweet, easy to handle, friendly, and they are great layers. This is a Black Australorp hen:

Cochin's are also very sweet chickens!

Ameraucaunas are awesome, but it is hard to find them because half the time you end with an Easter Egger, but Easter Eggers are great too! :)
Good Luck!

Go to the Social forum and locate the Washington thread in 'Where am I? Where are you!' - hopefully you can locate some local birds.

Thanks for all the advice. The Black Australorp sounds great, and it works for what I needed. Thanks!

I was thinking of using them for their eggs, but I would like for them to be good with children.
