Hi everyone! I am looking to get chickens for our backyard and am so excited! Grateful to have been told about this site. It looks fantastic! We live in North Salt Lake, Utah and are hoping to get four chickens. Could anyone direct me to a design for a coop that would house 4 chickens? We can certainly build it. I'm just a little overwhelmed and don't know where to look for a building design that would work well. Simple is great for us. :) Also, looking to buy chicks--Black Australorp, Rhode Island Red, Barred Plymouth Rock, and Buff Orpington. Would these all do well together? And where is the best place to buy them? Thanks so much in advance for your help!

I don't know what device you are using, but you can navigate to the learning center by clicking on this:

You're going to love all the coops there!

Welcome to BYC! Thanks for joining us.

The Chicken Coops page has a lot of great coops and plans.

All of those breeds will work well together. Most of the online hatcheries are sold out until the fall, but you can still look. Hoover's, Cackle, Murray, Meyer, Ideal, Purely Poultry, and Mt Healthy are all really great options. You can also check your local farm store, Craigslist, Facebook, or your even your State Thread to see if they are selling chicks. Best of luck!
