Hello all, I am excited to be a member of this group. I am have been living in Sydney Australia until recently when we moved to Tea Tree in Tasmania to look after a friends vineyard while they travelled to Europe for 6 months. They also have 11 chickens that we are also taking care of. Recently we had a sick chicken and I found this site when I was looking for information that could help her.

I am amazed at how much information is here. Being a chicken novice myself I am looking forward to being part of this community to help me through my chicken experience,

G'day and Welcome to Backyard chickens. It's nice to meet you Sara. Will you be moving back to Australia once your friends come home? There is "Australia, six states and one funny little island," thread - in case you get homesick for 'down under.'

Hello and welcome :) if its sick than give it some vanilla yogurt the antibiotic helps nourish the chicken.

Interesting about the yoghurt. Unfortunately our hen passed away. We thought she may have been egg bound and gave her her several baths and even some magnesium and calcium. For future reference how much vanilla yoghurt and will any vanilla yoghurt do or does it have to be unsweetened?

Welcome aboard! :frow
We are glad you joined our flock.

Just normal yogurt and just let her peck in the cup or dump it in her feed tray 1 cup should be enough (activia sized yogurts) don't use the other one with rice or any that contains chocolate.
