I'm Nisa and I have 5 two-week-old Jumbo Pekins. I bought them as pest control for my organic gardens and because I have always loved ducks. We have a an organic veggie garden that is 184 square feet. The fencing is 6 feet high and we have an electric fence around the base. I bought an igloo dog house to put in the garden for them, but I think I will need a more secure house to keep them safe from raccoons and foxes. We have a 10' diameter x 3.5' deep wading pool with a filter that we are using for their pond. I was planning to put plants in the water to help keep it clean and barley straw bundles. The little guys will not be ready for the great outdoors for several weeks, but I wanted to pass my plans on to this knowledgable forum; I welcome suggestions and ideas. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Best,
Nisa

I'm sure your Pekins are adorable. The Pekins I had were great rangers and excellent mothers, and I miss them. Just to keep you in the know, make sure you're supplementing with Niacin. Pekins, and especially Jumbo Pekins, are just prone to leg issues. So do your best to prevent leg issues before they start. Enjoy!

Welcome to BYC - glad you are enjoying your babies. If you have Holderread book on caring for ducks that will give you most of the info you need, plus this forum is a great place to learn.

Thank you all for the great tips. I am ordering a Holderread book now.
Thanks again, Nisa
