Hello everyone. I guess I'll answer the first 5 questions and then go from there, hehe.
(1) I am VERY new to chickens.
We don't have any yet but I'm hoping we'll be getting them this weekend, but most likely sometime this week.
(2) I'm not sure how many hens we'll be getting. We're getting some from a man who has 12 hens but we're not getting all 12. We'll also be getting a rooster from him. Plus, from someone else, we'll be getting 15 chicks. The chicks will have to wait though b/c we just got done with the coop/house for the hens and rooster.
(3) We will be getting RIRs.
(4) I came across BYC while researching chickens, lol. Great forum btw!
(5) I make jewelry, crochet, loom knit and small sewing projects. Though, I haven't had much time for it, nor the space.
(6) I am a SAHM and a wife to a wonderful husband. Our kids are 6, 4, and 2. Two girls, one boy (middle child). We also have a silly mutt we named Buddy. We've had him for about 5 1/2 years, he's a sweetie.
Let's see.... Well, I have learned a lot just from the BYC forum. I've learned new words, lol. Terms my hubby hadn't even used when he and his family had chickens when he was growing up. Funny, he's, uh, quite a bit older than me and is very intelligent but the new terms on here that I've learned has made him feel, well the way I feel when he uses words I have never heard of, lol. It's quite funny. We both have enjoyed seeing everyone's homemade coops and feeders. Great designs and ideas. I am VERY anxious to get our RIRs.
I can't bring myself to call them "new additions to the family" as we will be eating some, lol. So no names will be given out, except for maybe the rooster. Ok, I think I'm done rambling, lol. Btw, I "lol" a LOT, lol. I guess it's the goofy in me.
