I'm from Puerto Rico and we don't have a lot of web pages dedicated to raising chickens or any farming, so this page is a great start for me:
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Knowing how the animals were raised, what were they fed and how were they processed (as humanely as possible).
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I'm also starting a garden again. This COVID-19 pandemic has made me think we need to be as self-sufficient as possible.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 3 children all grown up, one moved out, two to go. I have 9 dogs, trying to give away 5 of them. I also want to raise rabbits for meat, but nothing yet. I'm an engineer but I've always wanted to have a small scale farm.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am new. Had a pet chicken many, many years ago but that's it.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? None. I'm doing a lot of research and I'm gathering a ton of ideas for a chicken brooder, a mobile coop and some tractors to raise chickens for eggs and meat.

(3) What breeds do you have? I plan to buy mostly brown egg layers, Rhode Island Reds, Golden Comets, and I'd like some Black Copper Marans for their dark brown eggs. Traditionally our egg industry is based on brown eggs, we get white eggs from the US.
I plan to buy Cornish Cross and Red/Rainbow/Freedom Rangers to test for myself.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I Goggled for brooder heating methods other than the 250-watt red heat lamps and found your page. Found great ideas using the heat mats. I'm sure I'll find very good info on everything I need.
