Hello everybody, my name is Joe. I bought a 12x6 chain link dog kennel and then I made a tarp tent top for it so the rain would run down the back of the kennel. I have 3 laying boxes, I could partition underneath the other boxes and have 6 laying boxes. In the main part of the coop are the laying boxes and 6 RI reds that look like they are almost grown. In a partitioned area of 4x3 feet are 4 Marans that are about 2 months from maturity. I have lost 2 to a sickness and another chic seems to be getting sluggish. I called the guy that raises them and he said that it probably the mosquitos. He said everyone is having the same problem right now with their immature chicks. One of my Reds is very big and looks like a rooster but it clucks like a chicken but never has crow'd yet so I think its a hen. It herds the other chickens in or out of the coop, and the other ones all try to get next to her at night. Only problem wit this fully developed hen is that she don't lay eggs and she's fully grown. The rest are a month behind her. So I have sick chickens and a confused hen that thinks she is a rooster, and I have no eggs yet.
