Hello,
I have just joined so thought I would say hi !!
My name is Emma and I LOVE chickens, I have always had chickens even as a little girl we had chickens!
I only have two as pets they are called Barbara and Margaret and they are Warrens.
I am also a lover of garden birds I have 22 feeders and a huge variety of birds which I adore, feeding birds and chickens cost me a fortune! I have just started a mealworm farm to help the birds and a treat for my girls!!
Hope you say hello back

Well hi Emma! Welcome!

I too love watching and listening to our local birds. Just today, we were discussing raising meal worms on a thread. I bet if you dropped in, you would have experience to share! I'll be starting my own in the spring and look forward to helpful hints!

Hi Emma, welcome to BYC!

I've never tried raising mealworms but my girls know the red bag means they are getting some dried ones for a treat. That always brings them running!

Because you enjoy the wild backyard birds, you might like to check out this link about them:

Make yourself at home here and if you have questions, always feel free to ask.

Thanks for joining us!

Hello,
Thank you for your message , yes it cost me over £100 in mealworms this nesting season so I have started my own farm, which so far is going well :)
I have 3 x camera nesting boxes and 12 other nesting boxes for my lovely birds, I even had to start my own group Golin Great Tit ! As I was posting toooooo many pics and videos of my birds in the garden including the daily videos of my nesting blue tits in the camera bird box and also of my Robin that was feeding from my hand and even mouth lol...he appeared the day after losing someone close and stayed with me a month , he would either be sat there waiting or would come when I called him....I haven't seen him now for a coup,e of months :'(
I am very happy to share experiences with my mealworm farm , my chickens go crazy for them too!!!
Xxx

Emma, you must be a bird whisperer...getting a Robin to eat out of your hand, that's amazing!
