Hey everyone. I'm new to chickens! We have 1 bantam cochin roo, 1 barred rock hen,1 barred rock pullet, 1 barred rock cockriel, 1 showgirl ?, 1 silkie pullet, 1 silkie? ,2 barnyard mix hens, and an old english game pullet!! This has been a learning adventure for sure. Any advice would be great!!

How old are your silkies? Generally they cannot be sexed with accuracy before 4-5 mos. of age, and sometimes not till they crow or lay eggs. Showgirls are a variety of silkies, so I would assume they may be hard to sex as well.

You may want to post photos on the "Silkie thread," and the "Showgirls thread." just put those in the search box and they should pop up for you. Showgirls applies to males and females - I guess they didn't want to differentiate with show boys.

Thank you we are very excited! We are learning as we go and it is more difficult than expected!! I've read a lot on here when I have had questions! Great place for learning!

You may want to be careful with your two roos, just make sure that one becomes the dominant and the other becomes the submissive one fairly soon and that they aren't injured if they squabble a bit.
