I was wondering can you hold a new hatched still wet chick. I would hold it in the broader, so it is warm. I have read you should not. But I have watched lots of videos of
People are doing it. I would like the chicks To imprint on me, but I don't want to hurt them. Thank you.

Hello, Rowyn, and welcome to BYC. By opening the incubator to hold the newly hatched chick you would lower humidity and possibly cause shrink wrapping of other chicks.

I would wait until they are dry to help make sure the other chicks will hatch. You will gain there trust as they grow.

I am not expert but I would not. They are still very fragile that young and I would wait until they are ready to come out of the incubator. They should still imprint on you. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Welcome to BYC. It's best to wait until chicks are dry before holding them. Not only are they very weak when they are newly hatched, but they are very sensitive to temperature changes and can easily catch a chill.

Chicks imprint on the shadow lurking above the incubator, they see you, its ingrained in them to look for "mom". Definitely wait until they are all hatched and dry. Congrats on the babies and enjoy them!

I was also wondering if the charges of a chick getting stuck in the egg relatively high should I worry about them. And should I watch them all the time as they hatch? This is My first time and i want to makes sure they get The right care. Thanks again for all the help.
