Hi there! You can call me Freddy. I joined this site in June 2024 but am only getting around to my introduction now (sorry, i'm not very organised!)
Me and my wife first got chickens in 2023. We currently have 9 chickens. Most of our chickens are hybrids but we do have the following breeds (or know that some of them have at least one parent out of the following breeds):
1 Polish hen
1 Pekin Bantam Rooster
5 Pekin bantam hens
1 Bielefelder mixed hens
1 Bielefelder mixed rooster
1 Amber Rock hen
My favorite part of raising chickens is just how entertaining and intelligent each one is. They each have unique personalities and watching them interact as a group is fascinating.
Some hobbies I have outside of raising chickens include reading, writing, raising rabbits, feeding squirrels and boxing. My wife is the one who got us into raising chickens and now we are both committed chicken parents haha.
I found out about BYC from a recommendation on reddit, when I was seeking advice on one of our roosters.
