Thank you! Ariel is in really good shape for her age. She's very active, but also loves to nap. She's entitled to it imo. She also takes good care of her feathers. I would be beyond shocked if Mischief had any Orpington in her. She's a lot smaller than an Orpington and her pants are only a little fluffy. The couple that I got her from had a mixed flock of hens. Some reds, some black, and some white.. Which could be any number of breeds.Hello! Welcome to BYC! A couple of pretty birds! Ariel looks pretty good for an 8 year old! Mischief looks a bit like a lavender Orphington with frazzle feathers! Have fun here!![]()
Welcome. It is great Ariel snuggles with you. One of my two black austalorps snuggles with me as well.Hey all! Been reading the forum for a couple of years now, finally decided to join. I first found this forum while Googling information about chickens. Been finding lots of great tips and pointers to keep my two hens happy and healthy. My girls are a bit of an odd couple. First is Ariel. She's an 8 and a half year old Black Australorp. She is the queen bee and spoiled lap hen. She LOVES cuddles and pets and will sit with me all day if I let her. And then there is Mischief. She's 2 and a half and is a farm mix. All I know of her parentage is her father was a Sumatra. She's a lot less affectionate than Ariel, but will still tolerate cuddles if I give her treats. I've had chickens since 2011, mostly bantams.
