Well, guess I'll start with the template--

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

New to live chickens co-inhabiting my space.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

0 chickens - plan on 6

(3) What breeds do you have?

I would like RIR - Black Australorp - Barred Rock - Orpington. Just
a simple egg laying flock with nice and varied colored chickens

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Researching coop requirements.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Fishing, gardening, work on property, studying self sufficiency,

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Well, let's fill in # 6 better.

I'm over 50, 5' tall and I want to keep 6 chickens. I want to come up with a design to keep chickens safe, and easy as possible to maintain as I get older and creaky. I have a old slightly cracked small slab to work with, along with 100 cedar 2"x6" & 2"x2"in 4' lengths. Want to run power to the coop.

The chicks and house will be behind 4' x 30' x 60' electrified fence when the garden is fallow. Otherwise it will be their run or free range while I'm home. I hope to have enough gumption and t posts to fence the property in 4' field fence within 2 years. Tons of critters here that would like a free dinner.

This is my first year gardening. Anything that survives gets planted again next year.

Marty and I have a old kitty named Punky that turned 21 last month.

Thanks to all for your collective wisdom.

Sheila
