I'm in the process of planning the PERFECT coop, PERFECT brooder, and PERFECT grower hut for 15 chicks. They are tentatively going to arrive for my birthday, which is April 2. We won't have the coop built yet, but have a brooder set-up already (yay!), and going to start a grower house soon. This is my baby, as my other babies are too big...(15 yr girl, 16 yr boy, and 18 yr boy).
I've been perusing this website, many others, MANY books, and now can say, "Wow, there's a lot to learn!" And I'm learning things from my Dad who has had chickens for decades...about when I moved out to go to college!
I have lots of questions, would LOVE to find someone locally (Eugene, OR) to chat with and see their set-up.
I have learned to 1)plan on twice as many chickens as I think I want...easier to build it a bit bigger now than try to make it happen later!
