Hello, my name is Monique , I live in Fort Myers Florida, and recently had a hen in my yard looking for advice.

Put up flyers or a post on your community Facebook to see if she's lost.
Chicken feed- it will say pellets or crumbles/mash on the bag. Feed stores, pet stores, even grocery stores will have small bags of it.
Water.
A safe place, like a dog kennel, maybe a box the lay eggs.

Hi, @Moniquelucks! I must have needed more caffeine when I read the title of your post -- I thought you were saying a hen had come over to your yard looking for advice...on what? 🤔 Her rooster problems? 🐓Disrespectful chicks?🐥 She's unhappy with her place in the flock hierarchy? Were you able to help her? Fort Myers chickens must be very neighborly and articulate...

Then I actually read the post...well, heck, that makes more sense! Back to the coffee pot for me, make it a double! 🤭😉☕☕

But seriously, it's very kind of you to take her in and protect her, find out how to care for her and with luck, help her get back home...unless she escaped for good reason. In that case, welcome to Chicken World!

Hello Monique, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I would build a proper coop and run for her then get her a friend. After the two are well bonded, I'd then get 2 more and integrate them to form a flock of 4. Both integrations done with proper quarantines.

:welcome

Hi Monique, if you can't find her owners and decide to keep her, she'll need appropriate housing and feed, and some chicken company. If you haven't already, check out some of the "getting started" articles in the Learning Center: Learning Center

Good luck!
