We have a rooster with one of the free ranging flocks at my workplace that we noticed had a sore foot last week. This week he’s looking worse, and has been peg legging after his ladies on curled toes on his right foot. When I grabbed him to take a look, I couldn’t find any crazy swelling or sign of a break, although his leg scales on just the injured leg are looking raised and out of sorts. Could scaly leg mites be causing this? Or just swelling from an injury? None of his ladies are showing any symptoms of issues. Thank you!

How much and how often?
I usually dose 400mg 2 times a day. But they can do so as often as they wish, there's no risk overdosing, since the Vitamin is water soluble.

Since this is one foot that's effected, treatment usually doesn't take too long.

Thank you! I treated him and the coop for scaly leg mites and will be picking up a b2 supplement today. He’s struggling to keep up with his girls so I’ve pulled him for rest and observation

You can also use B complex for curled under toes. It contains riboflavin and the other B vitamins. Could he be pecking his legs due to the scaly leg mites and causing bruising? For leg mites a thick oil or ointment is applied to the legs to smother the leg mites. Generic Vicks from dollar stores or Walmart is a good choice since the American Poultry Association says it kills the mites and helps for new scales to regrow with applying 2-3 times a week for several weeks as needed.

May I ask what kind of Vick's? Scaly leg mites is a battle of mine, & would like try different things.

We used to mix it in with the Vaseline when we treated ours that way. About 1/4 of this and 3/4 vaseline.

We have too many in the past few years so changed to Ivermectin.
