Hello, new chick mom, first night in the coop šŸ˜§

Thank you everyone for the warm greetings and the advice.

I do believe their brooder was getting too small for them and that is one reason why I felt it was time to move them to their coop. Last night seemed to go well for them. I am hopeful that the added space will stop the picking. I am headed to the feed store today to look for Blukote or pick nomore, whichever I can find. If the picking continues I will definitely separate the two breeds and see how it all goes from there.

Again, thank you!!

Liane
Great! I figured out not enough space does cause issues. Good job.

Welcome! Can you post pictures of the chick who has the picked feathers?
Clear pics of the area?

What size is your coop and what exactly do you feed the chicks?
I can get pics once I get home from work today.
The run is 100 sq feet
The coop is 16 sq feet
The brooder they just moved out of was significantly smaller, I don't really know the size of that right off the top of my head.

It is crazy isn't it? I couldn't believe I was so worried about it, I barely got any sleep and had to stop myself from getting up and checking on them constantly.
I agree, we had freezing temperatures at night still 2 weeks ago so i waited until they were close to 10 weeks until i let them out. I checked on them right away in the morning and they all just gave me the side eye, like, what do you want?! Lol
