Hey y'all! Our family just bought a house outside of Fayetteville, NC and I've been telling my husband I want chickens every since we met - lo and behold, the other day a chick ventured into our backyard from an opening under our fence.

So now we're starting a chicken family and I'm super excited - but not more than my two little girls! No idea what breed of chicken it is, or how old, but I'm guessing a black star around 8 weeks or so from my internet research. Poor hubby had to forego (very reluctantly) his time-off projects of landscaping the patio and building a hammock stand to build a coop. Funny, it seems chicky adores him most of all!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Now I'll have to go peek at your other thread to see if I know what wandered into your yard! Are you planning to get her some friends?

Hi, Dobie! Thx for the welcome. Yes, I'm definitely planning to get her some friends in the next couple of days from TSC - praying they're not all gone by then! Please do take a look at my other post - I've been guessing maybe an Australorp, but could I really be so lucky? Lol It seems they're a much loved breed!

I did take a peek. She may be an Australorp. Her body type seems wrong though. I'll leave it to the Breed & Gender experts to comment.
She's cute no matter what she is!
