Hi everyone!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm technically new to chickens in that I've never had any, but I've been reading up on them for almost 20 years (I'm in my 30s), since I've wanted them for ages!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I recently got 4 lovely gals from TSC a week and a half ago. Let's hope they're all still girls, of course! I've heard stories about TSC accidentally selling roos instead of pullets cause they get mixed up.
(3) What breeds do you have?
They are two Rhode Island Reds and two "Rustic Rocks". I absolutely adore them! They're a little over 2 weeks old based on their plumage (I believe I got them around a few days to 1 week old, based on size and plumage), and they're growing so fast!!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The antics are HILARIOUS and their plumage is gorgeous! I'm actually terrified of parrots up close but chickens and pigeons are fabulous to me <3
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm a handspinner in my spare time, among other things (it's too long of a list!) and my most recent hobby is recording videos of my chickens, and gardening.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a cat named Kasumi. She's separate from the chickens, and probably doesn't even know they exist! She's very clingy and I adore her <3
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've known about it for YEARS, but I only recently decided to join since, well, I got chickens! Trying to figure out what my rustic rock girls would look like when they got older was one of my driving factors to join and deep dive on here, actually!
