Hello everyone,

I have been reading over many of your posts and have found the information to be very interesting and useful. I am excited to be a member of this forum! I have never raised chickens before, but want to try raising some organic meat birds. I will probably be using the Jumbo Cornish Xs.

Is it best to order from McMurray? Also, I am having quite the time finding an organic feed anywhere in Utah. Am I going to have to order it online? What is the best place to order from? Sorry for all of the questions. I have tried to find most of my answers through searching previous posts.

There is a local mill here who buys from local farmers and makes their own feed, but their feed is soy-based, so I am assuming genetically modified and definitely not organic.

Thanks for any and all responses. I am getting very excited to get started. My grandpa's old chicken coop is about to get a makeover!

I know it is hard for some folks to find organic feed, maybe ask your local feed store to see if they can special order ot for you. Since you are doing Cornish X you will be buying enough to make it with their while.. I have heard good and bad things from many hatcheries// I will say though that the cheapest Cornish X I have found was at Centralhatchery.. Really Cheap.. Post pis of the chicken coop when you get it done...

Thanks for your responses. I appreciate the tips on the hatchery. That list of organic feed providers is very helpful. Thanks again, I can't wait to get started! I'll post pics if there is anything worth seeing

Hello chicken411!
welcome-byc.gif
from Coolville, OHio.
I buy my feed from the chicken supply store. - Where I will be picking up my new spring chicks. I'm too impatient for the mailing system. I just GOTTA go pick them out & bring 'em home.
