Hello New Here

Welcome to BYC . I used to work for a dog handler in the 70's and he showed 3 generations of Shih Zhu, the first an import from England Talifu Starlight(who was Shuggy), her daughter
Sugar Cookie, and her grandson Sugar Smacks.

He was mainly a Cocker Spaniel handler but his friend prevailed upon him to show the Shih Zhu. I didn't want to work on foo foo dogs with a head bow. So he thrust Shuggy into my arms and she cuddled up close to me and made cute little noises. I fell in love with her in an instant.

Also have had wild mallards come to my side door and the hen would bang with her beak until I opened up and gave her some bread. Then I realized she needed water to dunk it in so it could be swallowed.

She also walked on the outside ledge for the picture window and would stare inside to see what the furniture was like. She was always accompanied by two drakes. They would rest on my front lawn and the neighbors kept asking if they were lawn ornaments.

The next year I thought they came back but the hen looked like she was on steroids, found out she was a Ruen. Only had one drake with her,. It was exciting for me (as a former Chicago resident) to have wild birds come and look for me.

The skunks, oppossum, raccoons, fox , wood chucks were not greeted like royalty.

Hello, my name is Bridget, and I live in a small town in Louisiana, Ponchatoula. I have a shih-tzu, Maxx (10 years old), and while we don’t have chickens we have ducks. Whenever I enter a question about them on google, often times I’m sent to this site. My ducks are a few months old:
Midnight - Cayuga, male
Chocolate - Khaki Campbell, male
Half-pint - Mallard, male
Goldie - Pekin, female
I have become a helicopter duck mama, my mom laughs as she can’t picture her city girl daughter having duck and wearing white “shrimp” boots (aka. Chalmette Reebok’s) and cleaning their house and pools along with my yard every morning lol. I finally registered because I had a question about my ducks, which I posted under the duck thread. I just wanted to introduce myself to all. View attachment 2408747
Well, you found the right place! Welcome to BYC! Although I don't currently have Ducks, I sure like the pictures of yours! Very pretty.
We are Egg-cited you finally joined our group as Dr. Google is smart this time.
