Hello all, I'm from Australia.
I live on a 30 acre property with my family, and have always had some chooks around the farm

We've always had Isa Brown hens, mostly just been given them by people who don't want them any more. We did have a beautiful red rooster with green tail feathers once, (i'm not sure what breed, thats something i need to get more knowledge about

) But he kept trying to escape so we re-homed him. At the moment my dad has 5 hens who are roughly 3 years old, 4 of them are Isa Browns the 5th is a big white girl, again, i'm not sure what breed. Every afternoon,my dad lets them out of their yard and they get free run of the 30 acres. We never have to worry about foxes because our dogs keep them away. I'll admit i'm not really passionate about chooks (my passions are dogs and ferrets) but i've always loved chooks and am keen to learn more

I've been thinking for a while now that i'd like to get a bunch of chooks sort of as a hobby but also as a little extra income by selling the eggs, I have lots of friends who can't keep chooks but love having fresh free range eggs

So sometime soon i'm going to be buying some little chicks to raise myself, i'm quite excited and looking for all the information i can get about how to care for them

Thanks for reading my intro, now i'm off to explore the forum
