Just wanted to say "Hey"

I started with 3 French Black Maran hens, then a friend gave me a pair of Sexlinks, someone gave me an obnoxious Maran rooster ( he needs to go). And then I bought a pair of Blue Laced Wyandotte's.

Successfully tried my incubator skills with 17 eggs I collected from my girls, 10 hatched, 1 later died and so here I am.....................

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like chicken math at work! Congratulations on the successful hatch, sorry about the chick you lost.

It happens - Hopefully all will survive. Hoping to add hens to my flock, plenty of egg customers at work

Hey there!

Hi Patrice, Nice to meet you.
My sister had given my 4 Cinnamon Queens , that is a cross of Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorn...so I have been told..
They are the excellent layers...Well I loved the chickens, I grew up with chickens and never really gave them a thought, but now they're therapeutic for me.

..so I ordered me 30 Rhode Island Red pullets...they are 7 weeks old now....well 26 of them are, I lost 4, plus a mystery chick.
I forgot to mentions my sister had given my a "mystery chick" she received in an order of chicks. Well his name is Mystery, turns out he is a Silverspang Hamburg..he is beautiful, but not friendly, he won't last long...
Now I have 11 Ancona and 10 Monorca pullets coming around May 10.
I love doing this. I am home 98% of the time so it really is therapeutic.
Once again nice to meet you.

Nice to Meet you too.

Yes, while this is new to me...... And I am learning as I go - Unfortunately, I do have to work a reg. job but I find myself checking on the flocks as soon as I get home. I have horses, dogs and cats as well.........my little farm and working on a Dairy Goat w/ a doeling, I Want to make goat cheese.
I would like to get some RIR, as that was what my parents had back in the day. I can see where your RIR crossed with Leghorns should produce meat as well as Eggs - Nice Cross!!!

Going home to the animals (we, too, have horses, dogs, chickens and cats) is the best part of my day! There are days I don't even make it into the house at first, just head straight out to the barn/coop - that is my "unwind time".
