My Name is Rikki, and I am new to the chicken scene. I got my girls in April 2017. I have 10 girls all together, with names thanks to my grand daughter. I have 1 Rhode Island Red (Red), 1 White Leghorn (Leggs), 1 Ameraucana (Chewie), 1 bantam Easter Egger; supposed to be an regular size Ameraucana (Brownie), 2 Black Australorps (Diamond & Onyx), 2 Golden Sex Links (Peeps & Goldie), 2 Buff Orphingtons (Flora & Fauna). All of my girls are amazing, with their own personalities. They love for my Husband Billy, and I to sit out side and talk to them, pet them, love on them, you name it. They will actually come to the back door and peck on it until we open it, and talk to them if they feel like they haven't had enough of our attention. LOL! They love to come in the house, but I don't like cleaning messes. So, told my husband, and grand daughter Aria unless they wants to clean up the floor they stay outside. Ha! Ha!
I found out about this site by looking up info on what to do for a prolapsed vent, and how to get the egg out. The vet said that the info I found here, and followed, saved my little Fauna's life. If I hand't found this info she said by time we were able to take her in she would have had to been put down. I also look to this site for general health information, what to feed them for health, to get the best flavored eggs with the orange color egg yolks, how to save my yard, etc.. I live in a small area and I let my girls free range. Well not so good in a small yard. Ughhhhh! Now it is a mud yard, so I am fixing to follow some amazing ideas I learned from this site today. Thank you guys for all your advise, information, testings, etc. that has been given, done, and noted here in these forums.
A little about me and my family. My husband; Billy, and I are owner operators of a mobile catering company called Holy Smoke Bar-B-Que & Catering. I have 5 grand babies that love their Nina, and love to cook with me. Yes I love to cook, fish, read, dance, cruise with Royal Caribbean, and other tings. I am very active with my church Open Door Church out of Burleson, TX. My husband and I are ordained ministers, and are involved with the cooking team, and prayer teams at our church. Out side of that just ordinary folks who love life, family, friend, and our pets. Which, I almost forgot about our puppy Koda. He is an 8 years old half miniature Scottie-Schnauzer mix. He doesn't think one way or other about the girls unless they want to play. He is protective over them which we like. it keeps cat and other animals way. Well that's it. Thanks
