Hello from Wisconsin, I recently bought 4 pekin ducks, Let me tell you this has been an experience, I love them all but I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. The constant pooping and messes, lol. But we have got along great. The little turkeys( you know what I mean, my ducks) know my voice, Until last night they was in a big tote with chicken fencing on top, and slept in my room and went where ever I did. My husband and I worked on a coop the last few weeks and finally got it finished last night. I didnt sleep well because I was worried if we made t secure enough because beginning of this week I saw a fox a mile or so from our home. I have never seen one that close before. I was worried if they was warm enough, if the solar lights came on and if the light was to bright or not bright enough,, I think I am losing it for these crazy little ducks. I set my alarm extra early so I could go out and check on them before work. I was relieved to see all 4 of them up eating breakfast. I will try to post pictures but I am looking for information on bedding. I have no access to straw right now, I have been using many old towels and washing them daily. I am done with doing all the laundry. I tried pine shaving but feel they stayed very wet and was a waste of money.

Those are some very cute ducks and I love the coop!

It looks pretty secure. Foxes can dig, however, so you might want to put something around the edges to prevent this.

If you dry grass clippings they can make great home-made hay. I've used grass from our fields often for my chickens. Make sure there aren't chemicals on it.

Thank you, The coop has wire on the bottom as well. Not sure what I need to do with the edges as you mentioned? Thanks for the reply
 
If the bottom is wired than you don't have to do anything to the outside of the pen.

Welcome to the BYC flock. I see you were ready with their little swimming hole - you have blocks up to enter and to exit the water. A ramp would work also. If you post on the ' Duck thread', maybe they can suggest something for bedding that will dry faster. Ducks love splashing and being wet, so it isn't the concern it would be with chicks, who could get chilled.
