Hi,
I just recently found this forums and decided to sign up today. I live in Eugene. A couple years ago, I had a couple of chickens for a few months, and then gave them away. It was a great experience. I gave them up because I travel a lot. My city style chicken raising encouraged a neighbor to start keeping chickens too. She was the one who adopted mine. Now she has a huge flock, even turkeys!!
Now I have set up another area for hens in my front yard. I am going to start out with 4 hens and see how it goes. I plan on getting my hens on Saturday. If all goes well, I'll be getting 2 black sexlinks that are a year old, and 2 Plymouth Rocks that were born in the spring.
I am not too familiar with different breeds. I started investigating recently, and must say it is very interesting to learn about the qualities of different breeds. I can see how many of those who have the space for chickens would be inclined to get a whole lot of them!
I would love to connect with some other area chicken owners. I think forums are great for trading info and learning from one another.
