I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. As you are getting adults and chicks, there are quite a few which come to mind as may be being helpful for you:

Topic of the Week - Keeping the Flock Safe from Predators
Topic/Question of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising Chicks
Topic of the Week - Integrating Chicks into an Adult Flock

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

To help with your breed question, I believe the hen in between the two Rhode Island reds is a blue laced red wyandotte. They're a relatively new color of wyandotte to my knowledge. I've never had one, but other wyandottes I've had in the past have been very friendly and a wonderful breed to keep.

Good luck with your new chickens and let us know if you have any other questions; there are tons of people who will be willing to answer them. Oh, and if you have the time I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see some pictures of your new chicks when they get to you!
