Hello! New to chickens (Texas)

Hello everyone. I am starting my journey with chickens soon, I am a city girl, I know very little about chickens so I figured for the sake of my poor chickens, I better join a forum for some help! I have 5 kids, 4 boys, 1 girl. I am starting on chickens for the eggs, I buy fresh farm and its getting out of hand to drive 40 miles one way to buy a months worth of eggs! I do not have any yet, do not even have a coop but starting my research now and hoping to have chickens by early spring 2010!

You'll find plenty of friendly people and helpful hints here. People are really good about answering questions, even when it is the 200th time. This is a great group of people.
