Hello everyone! I am new to chickens, but we ordered 25. They will be here come March. My husband and I are not very handy but looking at the coop designs that are on BYC have really inspired me. I would like to use a chicken tractor as well as a normal coop, so we can utilize the chickens natural ability to till soil and fertilize it. Can someone help me figure out how big of a chicken coop we will be needing? I know 3-4 sq feet per chicken, but I am having trouble visualizing that space. We also ordered 6 Brahmas. Are they really as big as the internet is saying, and will we be able to house them comfortably with other chickens?

Welcome!
You will need 4 square feet per bird. If you can’t do that, cancel some of your order.

Welcome!
I have a light braham, she's is a big girl and only 5 1/2 months old but she does just fine with my buff orpington and Whiting true blue. They are so sweet, you're gonna love em♥️
