Weelllll my aracuana died, after just one nite. I thought she didn't look quite right yesterday. I went straight back to the farmer and he gave me a new chicken with no problem. I had picked the aracauna out so I let him pick the replacement, only I forgot to ask him what kind it was

I think she may be a leg horn, she is white and large and has a big comb and waddle, I would say she was a roo, if I didn't trust the fellow to know his chickens. oh, and he said it would lay white eggs.

The guy really was nice about it.

Let me know if this should be in another topic,

I got my first two eggs today, is it ok to mark them with a permanent magic marker I would like to put the date on them but don't want it to leak through.

Also what color eggs do silkies lay, I have one regular sized egg not jumbo or anything, and one slightly smaller egg both are the same color tanish.

the farmer told me the leghorn would lay a cream colored egg. He might considered this tannish color cream its certainly not white which is what I thought leghorn's layed. Maybe she is not a leghorn I should post a pix I reckon.

I mark the date and name of the layer with a pencil...I dont know if Id trust the marker. Eggs are pretty porous.
