Sorry about your hatch. I would certainly second the letting of eggs to rest before starting incubation. Also this is a great waterfowl guide for hatching ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed.491013/

Although following geese incubation it’s the same principle for ducks.
