Hello! I've just joined and decided to quickly introduce myself and answer the copy/paste questions 
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not new to chickens at all, but we started our own flock in 2020. We've had them ever since.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now, I have 8 in the outside coop and 9 that just hatched. Our roo is a Silver Orpington, we have three black Jersey giants, 3 cinnamon queens, and one silver laced Wyandot. The new hatches are a combination of those.
(3) What breeds do you have?
See answer to number 2 lol.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I just love everything about it! Ours are egg layers only. I don't have it in me to raise meat chickens yet. Doubt I ever will.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm avid about my Bible study, but I also garden and can food, enjoy photography, hiking, traveling, and I'm new to cycling. Looking to learn as much as possible about that because my absolute dream is to one day go bikepacking!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a new widow, so really having to relearn life. Me and my grown children live together. My son is autistic, 30 years old, and my daughter is 24. She and I work at McDonald's. I used to own my own writing company, but AI came in and we lost 700 clients in less than 30 days! As for other pets, we have three dogs and four cats.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through a Google search I did when I thought I was having trouble with my chicks. I still do, which is why I joined, after reading some excellent posts on the issue I'm having... and I look forward to getting to know everyone!
