Hi everybody,
I'm new to the BYC family. I have three chickens in my backyard. One Buff Orpington and two Blue Cochins. I got them at six weeks old so I could have them sexed (no roosters... I'm trying to be under the radar here as it's still not legal to have chickens in my city) and they are almost 21 weeks now. Yesterday I got my first egg! I watched the Orpington lay it in the coop and i was giddy like a school girl. I'm looking forward to gaining a plethora of advice and knowledge from this site. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the welcome everyone!! yes, chickens are awesome. My hubby thought I was crazy at first because of all this chicken nonsense but I think I've almost got him hooked. The fact that an actual egg was laid the other day doesn't hurt! P.S. my kids named the chickens... the Orp. is Ashley, the cochins are Cutie and Roberta.
