Well Hello Everyone!
Just had my first 'learning curve' ! One of our beautiful 6 1/2 week old golden sex links was bleeding and pecking at her bottom! Blood on her beak, blood on her bottom!
Took her in the house and washed her so I could see where and what was happening. She had two broken feathers that were bleeding like straws. After I got her cleaned up, and dried, we took a needle nose plier and pulled the broken feathers. As terrible as it sounds, it went very easy and quick. She hardly made a sound, I think she knew we were trying to help her. After quickly removing the feathers, we dabbed blu coat on the entire affected area.
Held and cuddled her until dusk when all the other hens had come in for the night and set her in the coop. One happy little girl!
