Jessica and sister Rachel in Tampa, Fk, raising layers for the first time. We have 7 chicklets. (1) Buff Orpington, (2) Americaunas, (3) Speckled Sussex, and (1) Sicilian Buttercup. Coop is setup and I’m working on predator proofing. They have two weeks till they go outside.

Would hardware cloth flat against the ground staked and stapled to coop be enough protection from raccoons?

Hello, Jessica and Rachel, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
What you suggest is a good predator apron as long as the coop attachments are either screws with fender washers or 3/4" poultry staples. All windows need the same covering for security.
All doors need to be secured so that a toddler couldn't get them open. I use caribiners through eyelets.
