Chickencal
In the Brooder
Hello all!
I am new here, and here is some background:
I am not "new" to chickens really, but this is the first time that I am raising them as pets/layers. I grew up in 4-H showing chickens. My mother has laying hens and I always love to watch them. They are hilarious! So of course I needed my own.
I just got 8 babies last Saturday. I have 3 Orpingtons, 3 Cochins, and 2 Black Star Sex Links. I have names picked out, but I won't be assigning them until I can tell the babies apart.
We mainly got the chickens to have as a family time project, but I am way too excited about them. Haha.
Right now they are living in the house in a big plastic tub. The weather here has been way too unpredictable for me to feel comfortable with keeping them outside.
I really wanted to join BYC to see how everyone else raises their chickens, and maybe to get some tips and tricks! I can't wait to meet all of you!
